Troop 116 is over 50 years old. Meetings are Monday nights: 7:00 pm. – 8:30 pm. At the Legion: September through early June. Awards ceremonies held in December and May.

Troop Committee meets as needed and is open to all parents. Minutes are distributed to each family via Email, with hard copies at the next meeting. Schedule for the year is created, distributed to each family, and posted on the bulletin board.

Troop 116 is a Camping troop. We have a campout in September, October, November, January, February, March, April, and May. We camp in Tents. We will have a backup cabin/warming hut in the winter months. We go to Sabattis in the first week of July.

The Troop provides tents, cooking gear, stoves, propane, portable shelters, etc. for every campout. The scout needs to have a sleeping bag appropriate for the weather, space blanket, clothes, and personal eating gear. Many scouts have purchased their own tents. Backpacks are recommended but not required. Campouts cost each scout $10 for food.

Scouts make their menus, shop and prepare their own food during campouts.

Troop 116 participates in the Aquatics Program run by Don Augustine (Troop 117). This program will provide instructional swimming, Swimming Merit badge, Lifesaving Merit Badge and BSA Lifeguard. This program is run in the late winter through spring. (Indoors). We also participate in a Canoeing Merit Badge program in June.

Troop 116 leaders are trainie in the Scouting Fundamentals, First Aid, and Wilderness First Aid.

Meetings are geared to teach Scouts basic and advanced scouting skills including camping, cooking, knots, community service, etc. Since last spring, we have had 3 Scouts earn the Scout Badge, 4 Scouts have earned the Tenderfoot badge. 7 Scouts have earned the 2nd Class badge and 6 Scouts have earned the 1st class badge. 6 Scouts have earned the Star Badge and 1 Scout earned the Life badge. As well we had 23 Scouts earn 138 merit badges, with 8 of the badges being required for Eagle.
